IPv6 Feature

Those of you who managed to tune into the podcast this week will have heard the first of my new mini feature on IPv6. This feature will cover the basics of why IPv6 is coming around the corner, how it has come about right into the detail of where it is now and what is holding things back.

I'm a massive fan of v6 and while it's probably a bit sad I'm really excited to see it starting to propagate into more and more networks. I simply cannot wait to get my teeth stuck into some real IPv6 work and will continue to nudge my employer to find me some IPv6 projects!

Stay tuned, I'm hopefully going to start a new section on my site for this topic so that listeners can find information and look over tech notes.

London Coffee Festival

My Girlfriend works in a coffee shop and runs a club for a few regular customers and enthusiasts. Recently the club organised a trip to the London Coffee Festival in Brick Lane, London to check out the different coffees, technology and also see some of the UK Barista Chapionship candidates.

We travelled up to the City and found an excellent place called Spitafields Market. Well, we stumbled on it during a mini campaign to locate a free cash machine (which we eventually found - FTW). There was an antiques fair on and the were loads of small food outlets. One great place we found was Square Pie I can't knock the food but it was a bit pricey - but better than the 9 quid pie I had at Wembley Arena!

After filling up on cash and food we wandered round to the Coffee Festival, there were loads of people, in fact there were more people than the last Yellowcard concert I went too - saying that, the Yellowcard tickets were cheaper.. The festival had loads of different vendors and the big names like Costa, Lavazza etc - Although notably there was no presence from Starbucks! We had our picture taken in the Costa Coffee booth, and even made it on to their official facebook page! See HERE. We watched one of the contestants of the Barista Championship and he ended up winning!

It was a great place to visit if you like coffee and next year round I would definitely recommend it.

A Start of Something New?

As I write this post I am on sitting back on a BA flight from London to Glasgow, this is somewhat of a momentous career milestone to me and marks the first time a business has seen it fit to send me on a cross border one nighter. Unfortunately it wasn't terribly easy to come by and the work has been on my books for several months now. Still, I'm going to accept this little treat of witnessing Scotland's largest city with open arms!

Small update, since I haven't yet uploaded this - BA domestic flights have a complimentary bar! Would have regretted not having a cup of tea except I'm going to remain professional, of course.

My Birthday Surprise!

Surprises are great! Especially this one, Victoria did actual loads for my 22nd birthday.

One of my presents is something I have wanted for a long time, my favourite Yellowcard album on vinyl, She ordered this on her own accord and even arranged for it to have a custom frame made up. It shows the vinyl and the cover in the same frame with a black and yellow border. What's even more amazing is the back of the frame is transparent so the reverse of the cover and insert can be viewed! Cannot wait to get this hung on my wall, it's going to look amazing!

We also had a birthday dinner, Victoria made pizza dough with a bread maker machine, then we put sauce, cheese and pepperoni on top, these were seriously amazing pizzas. If you have time do it, it's 100 times better than any store bought pizza. We also had homemade fondants which were like a chocolate cake on the outside but with a gooey centre - EPIC.

To top it off she bought me a 5kg box of haribo, watched a man movie (Inception) with me and we made popcorn!

Not half bad eh?

TUPdate

So Episode 4 didn't go very well.. The podcast mostly consisted of swearing, laughing and very little content. The TUP team have since called an emergency briefing earlier today and developed a concise action plan to ensure our enterprise remains on the rails.

Our action plan consists of a set of 'Improvements' (I know right, fancy title) by which we must follow, these are only basic but include things such as "Less Swearing" and "Revise topics before talking about them". We have also begun to develop a more detailed script, including timings, subjects and who should be talking. If you were unfortunate enough to have suffered Episode 4 (which I'm not even going to hyperlink) then I promise you Episode 5 will be 110% better - or your money back.
